About

Hi and welcome to Stuck on a Story! My name is Christina Jane Stuck. I’m an early literacy expert who has practiced what she preaches with her own little munchkin, Theodore.

My husband and I in November 2011.

My husband, Ryan, and I have been married for five years. He is into second language acquisition, which is a super fancy word for “how we learn a second language.” I love to help you teach children their first language and he tries to find out how to teach them another language.

We currently live in North Texas. I grew up on the southwest side of Houston for which I am thankful. I realize now that not everyone grew up in such a diverse community as I did…or can duke it out on the freeways of a million plus mega-city.

Theodore is currently 3.5 years old. Although he can’t write his letters very well, he can most definitely read letters, individually that is. But, he can read some words. Thanks to Kate DiCamillo’s Mercy to the Rescue, Theo learned to read “boom.” It was a proud moment for all of us when he read it in another book, David Soman’s Three Bears in a Boat.

About My Blog

My purpose in creating this blog is simple:

  1. to help you find the story you or a child in your life needs
  2. to encourage you in helping the children around you become successful readers and communicators
  3. to keep track of what books I read and what we read to my son

So, let’s get stuck on some stories together!
